Tenbury

tenbury-st-marysSt Mary’s Church is in the heart of the market Town of Tenbury Wells and is currently undergoing a redevelopment which will include kitchen and toilets. This will then open up the church as a building to be used by the wider community: providing a special place to entertain, help each other and be a haven of tranquillity and peace.

St Mary’s Church has a thriving Sunday School where the young children share in worship and explore how to live with each other. They also attend the main church service and interact with the wider congregation. Some of the children are part of our Choir. St Mary’s provides a strong musical and choral tradition and is looking at ways to develop this further.

The development of our children’s area has proved to be a welcome addition. By having the children’s area we hope that people visiting our church will know that children are active members of the congregation. Not only is the area used during Sunday services, it is often used at weddings and other services throughout the year.

Tenbury Wells is a traditional market town and although sometimes known as a “sleepy town” we are far from this. The town offers a wide variety of activities both sporting and leisure. Tenbury can cater for everyone’s needs.

Tenbury is a safe environment to live in providing good shopping facilities and is within easy access to the countryside but also good access to the larger towns. Tourism is a main part of the community and we are always looking at ways to bring more visitors to the town. We still have a weekly market, and in the winter there are holly and mistletoe sales. The community comes together to support the Annual Agricultural Show. We still have a local Cinema which not only shows films but also puts on productions by the Amateur Dramatic and Operatic societies. The town offers good social activities with a large selection of associations and organizations.

Tenbury has a strong community and the local people are always there to help and support each other.
