Boraston Parish Meeting

A Parish Meeting was held on April 15th in Boraston Church. The main item for discussion was whether there should be a more formal parish council covering the village, following the creation of Shropshire Council (if they were agreeable). In the end, it was decided to retain the current status of the Parish Meeting, but to keep the situation under review.

There was a discussion about speeding traffic on the Worcester Road, and the difficulty that this caused for vehicles turning out of the lane from the village at the Peacock Inn, and also for pedestrians using the footpath to walk to Tenbury. A 50mph limit from the end of the current 40mph restriction at Burford to the end of the Peacock Inn carpark might help to alleviate the problem and it was agreed to raise the issue with the Shropshire Council.

The Parish Meeting also agreed to adopt the telephone box in the centre of Boraston.

After a combined service of nearly 50 years, Frank Marston and Geof. Smout stood down as Chair and Clerk. Nick Bewes (Whistlewood) is the new Chair of the Parish Meeting and Mark Mason (Hammermill Farm) is the new Clerk.
