Those of us who remember Colin Hutt from his time here as our vicar will be saddened St John the Baptist, to hear of his death after many years of ill health. We extend our sympathy towards his daughter Jane, to whom fell burden of combining a career with caring for increasingly fragile parents. I have two abiding memories of Colin – the first being at his very first carol service with us, when Jan and I noticed to our horror that the little candles on the pulpit were about to set fire to him, and secondly of ironing his surpluses. He was a very large gentleman, and they were very large surpluses and took a long time. May he rest in peace.
