At the Local Ministry Team Meeting with the Churchwardens I finally met Tom Cheese of Burford. Strangely, going back to at least the eighteenth century there seems to be no connection between our family from Bitterley and Tom’s. But of course there doesn’t have to be as there would be many cheese makers all over the country. Though now there seem so few of us left. There is I am told a Howard Cheese in Ely. Wonder if he happens to be a churchwarden at another little pile, the Cathedral!? This world isn’t big enough for the both of us!
It was good to put faces to other names at the meeting and to receive the report on the Local Ministry Team, which confirmed the thoughts of us all; that they are doing a very worthwhile task in our group of parishes. Nominations for more members will be asked for, but we need to know who is willing to consider being a member of the team.
