Boraston Carollers – December 16th

A group loosely known as the Boraston Carollers assembled at Forge Cottage, the home of Peter and Jenny Metcalfe, ready to sing throughout the hamlet. After generous supplies of sherry and mince pies the ‘choir’ under the leadership of our maestro Hugh O’Neill set off purposely down the lane.

Ever mindful of Health and Safety factors the group tried to follow the guidance of the Ecclesiastical, the largest insurers of the Anglican Church.

On the question of reflective clothing, unfortunately no-one was in yellow but we didn’t sing in the middle of the road and if we had John Bourne would have certainly seen us in his tractor lights! It was suggested the group didn’t carry large amounts of money and since most of us were pensioners that was highly improbable!!

It was not advisable to have any naked flames present but since it was cold and wet every one was fully dressed! We were to keep in touch with base, this we did to monitor the state of the mince pies and mulled wine!

Eventually the Carollers reached Dean Barn to join other friends for refreshments and a good old natter. On a serious note, very many thanks for the superb efforts of those in Boraston and other friends, together we raised a wonderful £550 for the Send a Cow Charity.
