I must put in print a memory of the largest amount of snow which has fallen in Greete in my father’s life time. He recalls that in 1933 large flakes kept falling without any wind, until there was a level covering of four feet right across the field. They had to dig the pigsty out and dig a pathway through the soft snow up to the hen houses. So what that would have been like with wind piling it against houses can only be imagined. So as the saying goes: ‘You ain’t seen nothing yet’.
