Organised by Charles on October 14th, this was almost literally a roaring success. During the course of the evening 78 of us in St John the Baptist, good Old Time musical tradition sat with drinks in hand and a substantial ploughman’s platter at half time, listened to jokes and stories and participated with enthusiasm with the silly songs the comedian made us sing and the silly things he made us do.
Judging from the comments and compliments at the end of the evening people had much enjoyed themselves and the opportunity to ‘let their hair down’ for a little while. The evening was arranged in aid of village hall funds and resulted in the splendid sum of £450+ which will be a great help towards a much needed lick and polish. Thank you Charles and thank you Jan, Elaine, Michael and Miriam for plating up all those ploughman’s suppers. Thanks also to the comedian who, with a bit of help from Charles, entertained us all evening, only pausing for half an hour to refresh his vocal chords, eat his supper and recharge his batteries.
