November was a very important meeting for Clee Hill W I as we did not know whether we would have a W I for next year 2010. We had one new member, Lyn Jones, and promises for more next year. The A G M got under way to select a new committee; present Chairman Marina Clent tried very hard to stand down but she received the most votes and she was pressed into standing again. After consideration she agreed to stand for one more year if it would save our W I. Margaret Hanley is staying as Secretary, Monica Green our new Treasurer, as Jean Cooke is standing down and Margaret Beddoe Press Secretary, Ruby Walker Coach Organiser and Pat Parker and Barbara Pugh on Raffle.
In other business the report for the year 2009 was read; we have had a very busy and interesting year with some wonderful speakers and outings. Marina thanked Margaret Hanley and Jean Cooke for their hard work and also members. The Committee Supper at De Greys was excellent, and there was a letter of thanks from Alf Jenkins to members who took part in helping at the fair at Hope Bagot.
Our speaker for the afternoon was Pam Collier who gave a very interesting talk on bees, honey and greeting cards; she demonstrated how to decorate the cards by using beeswax; honey is very good for healing ulcers, bed sores, arthritis and much more. Refreshments were served by Monica and Lucy; the competition, ‘Brown’, 1st was Maggie with Margaret Hanley 2nd and 3rd Pat Parker. The raffle was won by Ivy Banks, the stall was run by Ruby Walker and Maggie. The next meeting will be at Clee Hill on December 7th at 2pm followed by the Carol Service at Ashford and Caynham Village Hall at 7.30 pm.
