Cumberley Open Garden

We have been blessed with good weather for our two events this month. Anne and Charles Chesshire kindly opened their very interesting garden again in aid of the Friends. The sun shone as visitors wandered around admiring the herbaceous beds full of scent and colour, enjoying the peaceful Japanese Tea House and the Simply Singers, who delighted the assembled company with folk songs and madrigals. We enjoyed the “exceedingly good cakes” provided by the Hope Bagot tea ladies. When walking round opened gardens one sometimes gets the feeling that their owners rather wished they hadn’t and would be very glad when everyone has gone away. It certainly isn’t so with Anne or Charles who so patiently answer all our questions. Thank you both very much. In your garden we always feel welcome and at home.
